Travel from Mto wa Mbu by tuk-tuk, bicycle or safari vehicle to Miwaleni Lake, a green oasis beneath the Rift Valley wall. Walk the papyrus-lined shore, learn how local artisans use reeds, then follow the river upstream. The final approach involves light rock-hopping before reaching a cool pool beneath a roughly fifteen-metre waterfall, where swimming may be possible when conditions are safe.
