Overview

Experience Makonde & Tinga Tinga Studios

Go behind the scenes with Makonde woodcarvers and Tinga Tinga painters. Watch master carvers shape figures and masks from hardwood, learn about classic forms such as shetani, and see bright animal scenes built in layered paint. There is time to ask questions, photograph the process with permission and try a short, supervised creative exercise. Purchases are optional and go directly to the artists.
